Schedule Announced for Elections in Maharashtra

Maharashtra Elections will be held on October 13th, 2009. The much awaited announcement of the Election Commission on the schedule for Maharashtra Elections is finally out. The Chief Election Commissioner announced the schedule for the Maharashtra Elections.
Here are the important dates in the Schedule for the Maharashtra Elections:

- Maharashtra Assembly Elections will be held in a single phase on October 13.

- The counting of votes cast for Maharashtra Assembly will take place on October 22.

The Chief Election Commissioner also announced that Electronic Voting Machines(EVM) will be used in the Maharashtra Elections.

The electoral battle in Maharashtra Elections in 2009 will be fought in 288 assembly seats.

In the recently held Loksabha Elections Congress/NCP had an edge

Congress 17
BJP 9
NCP - 8
SS - 11
Others - 3
